How do I start service?
• Get an application from our website or one can be sent to you by mail or email.
• Fill out your application. Make sure that a certifying authority has signed it!
• Send your application (by mail, fax, email) to TBC to be processed.

• Legal Blindness • Visual Disability • Physical Disability • Reading Disability
TBC provides access to:
• Audiobooks • Downloadable books • Large print books • Braille books
Books, equipment, and ship ping both ways is provided at no cost. Established in 1972, the TBC is a joint effort of the Alaska State Library & the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled.
How does service work?
• Once your application is processed you will begin to receive books. Generally, multiple books will come on each cartridge.
• When you finish with a car tridge, you can mail it back with the self-addressed mailing card. There is never any postage due for mailing talking books.
• Cartridges are on loan for one month. There are never any fines for overdues.
• When your books are returned, staff mail more cartridges to your home.
• Call or email Utah to update your preferences.
How do I choose books?
• Access Talking Book Topics online (see our website), by subscribing to the cartridge, or through BARD. This has a listing of all the newest books available.
• Access the Utah catalog at https://ut1a.klas.com/. You can mark titles to request directly through the catalog.
• The NLS catalog is at http:// nlscatalog.loc.gov.
• Download books on your computer or mobile device. BARD allows you to choose from thousands of books and magazines to down load .
