Why volunteer at the Seward Senior Center?

Volunteers are a source of new energy, resources, and inspiration for senior care professionals.

Volunteering combats isolation and provides a sense of purpose for both the volunteer and the community they serve.

Volunteering once a week can help you build social connections, learn new skills, and feel like active contributors to the local community.

What can I do to help at the Senior Center?

We have many different volunteer opportunities!

• Meal Packing- Helps pack meals for our Meals on Wheels Program. We serve 5 meals to between 20-30 Seniors with this program each week. So, we pack between 100-150 fresh meals each week!

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:45am~11:15am

  • Tuesday & Thursday 1~1:30pm

• Meals Driver- Delivers meals to consumers and provides a wellness check. Meals on Wheels is more than a nutritional program. Our delivery doubles as a wellness check for consumers. We encourage drivers to establish a personal connection with seniors on their route.

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 11:15am~1:30pm

• Front Desk- Greet members when they come in to lunch, help us note down who is here, and perform light admin duties-such as answering the phone. A friendly smile and kind personality is all that you need to succeed!

  • Monday-Friday 10:45am-1pm

• CSFP Senior Food Box- Help us distribute food boxes to eligible seniors. This program only operates one day each month but is responsible for distributing over 1,600lbs of food to our community each month!

  • 1st Wednesday-Delivery at 1:15pm

  • 2nd Thursday-Distribution at 1:15pm

• Dishwashing- Lunch is a messy business and our Chef does a great job ensuring that we have delicious and nutritious meals to feed between 50-70 people five days a week. Come lend a hand with kitchen cleanup!

  • Monday-Friday at 12:30pm

• Dining Room Aid- Help keep our dining room clean with this flexible volunteer opportunity. If you can wipe down a table, sweep a floor, or dust a shelf then this will be an absolute breeze.

  • Mon-Fri at 8:30am or 3:30pm
