Join us Monday-Friday from 12pm-1pm for lunch!

Included in your free membership at the Seward Senior Center.
An optional $7 at-will donation is appreciated to assist us in continuing to provide this essential service.

Welcome and encouraged to join us for lunch.
Lunch is $14 for these individuals, and we ask that you wait until 12:30pm to ensure that the seniors local to our area are served first.
Meals on Wheels
If you are homebound due to age or medical reasons, then we would like to assist you in meeting your nutritional needs.
Our Meals on Wheels Program delivers five fresh meals every week to help ensure older adults receive the nutritious meals they need to stay healthy, feel stronger and live independently at home.
To qualify you must be:
60+ (or the senior spouse of any age)
Physically and/or mentally incapacitated
Unable to prepare nutritious meals
Lack informal supports who can assist you with meal prep.
Fitness Classes
We have a fitness room with plenty of space for our seniors to get active. Come in anytime outside of classes to use the room and equipment we have available for members.
We offer a few different fitness classes targeted at helping seniors live more independent lives. Medical release waivers are required to participate in classes.

S.A.I.L. is a fundamental class, so we encourage regular attendance to ensure that you see the fall prevention and other quality of life benefits from participating in the program.

Tai chi for arthritis is a therapeutic approach that adapts traditional tai chi movements to address the unique needs of individuals with arthritis. This is a fundamentals class, so regular participation is encouraged.

Tai chi is an art embracing the mind, body and spirit. Originating in ancient China, tai chi is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and soon delivers its health benefits. For many, it continues as a lifetime journey. This is a fundamentals class, so regular participation is encouraged.

Quality of Life classes and presentations

Monthly classes led through the winter by the Seward Community Library and Museum. These classes assist seniors in utilizing their phone, computer, or tablet to navigate the internet, connect on social media, or access essential service websites.

We often host guests from Providence, Seward Community Health Center, Lacuna Family Medicine, Seward Area Hospice, and the Independent Living Center as well as other partners to provide health and nutritional education opportunities to our members.

We host partners from Social Security, AARP, and other partners to provide presentations and educational opportunities to ensure seniors are navigating their financial lives from a well-educated vantage point.
Social Services

Monthly food box includes USDA-approved foods such as grains, proteins, dairy, fruits, and vegetables and are designed to supplement their diets.
To qualify for the food box, you must:
1) Be 60+ and older2) Meet income requirements
Distribution is every 2nd Thursday of the month from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

The Senior Benefits Program pays cash benefits to Alaskan seniors who are age 65 or older and have low to moderate income. Cash payments are $125, $175, or $250 each month depending on other income. The income limits for each payment level are tied to the Alaska Federal Poverty Guidelines and change each year as the poverty level changes. We assist with advising for the Senior Benefits Program. Call or stop by for assistance.
