Adult Protective Services

Helps to prevent or stop harm to vulnerable adults. Vulnerable adults are people who may not be able to protect themselves due to age, illness, or disability.

Alaska law ensures that protective services do not interfere with the rights of elderly or disabled adults who can take care of themselves.

Our goal is to promote lives free of harm while respecting individual choice.

APS can help with:

  • Sharing information and helping find the right services

  • Looking into reports of harm or neglect

  • Finding safe housing for people who need it

  • Helping with decisions about guardianship or conservatorship (when someone helps manage your care or money)

  • Connecting people to community resources for extra support

  • Teaching and working with local groups to provide services
